P-Series Power Meter Real-Time Remote Control Video Demonstrations
The following videos demonstrate the features and capabilties of the P-Series power meters and sensors with real application signals. These features and capabilities are only available with P-Series Power Meter firmware upgrade (Version A.03.01).

To get the new firmware upgraded, please click on below URL: http://www.agilent.com/find/pseriesfirmware
These videos were recorded while operating an Agilent VEE program, making use of the versatile connectivity of the P-series to control the power meter for real-time control.
PULSE / RADAR (NEW!!!)
With warranted performance that includes up to 40GHz frequency range, 100MSample/sec continuous sampling rate with 30MHz video bandwidth, and rise/fall time of less than or equal to 13ns, the P-Series covers most of today’s wireless communication and networking applications. This example is showing Pulse/Radar signal power measurement with P-Series Power Meter, where Pulse/Radar signals is generated from E4438C.
Signal Configuration (E4438C):
- Frequency: 1GHz
- Amplitude: 10dBm
- Pulse Period: 80us
- Pulse Width: 40us
The video covers:
- Radar/DME preset
- Auto scale
- Auto gating
- Perpetual setting
- Maximum and minimum power measurement
- Trace control menu
- Zoomed view
WiMAX (NEW!!!)
With warranted performance that includes up to 40GHz frequency range, 100MSample/sec continuous sampling rate with 30MHz video bandwidth, and rise/fall time of less than or equal to 13ns, the P-Series covers most of today’s wireless communication and networking applications. This example is showing WiMAX signal power measurement with P-Series Power Meter, where WiMAX signal is generated from E4438C.
Signal Configuration (E4438C):

W-CDMA
With warranted performance that includes up to 40 GHz frequency range, 100MSample/sec continuous sampling rate with 30MHz video bandwidth and rise and fall time of less than or equal to 13 ns, the P-Series covers most of today’s wireless communication and networking applications. For this example, the W-CDMA signal was generated using Agilent ESG Vector Signal Generator (E4438C).
Signal Configuration:
Part 1: W-CDMA signal
- Frequency of 1.9 GHz
- Chip rate of 3.84 Mcps
- Real Time W-CDMA signal
- Amplitude 10dBm
Part 2: Pulse signal
- Pulse Period: 80 us

- Amplitude: 10 dBm
The video covers:
- Used of W-CDMA preset feature
- Key measurements such as Average, Peak, Peak-to-Average ratio
- Display control
- Trigger: Free Run
- CCDF measurements
- Zoomed view
- Gate control
- User configurable rise time and fall time reference level (default: 10% to 90%)
- User configurable pulse duration reference level (default: 50%)
Radar
With warranted performance that includes up to 40 GHz frequency range, a 30 MHz video bandwidth and rise and fall time of less than or equal to 13 ns, the P-Series covers most of today’s high frequency radar test applications. In this video the signal was chosen as follows:
- Frequency of 10 GHz
- Pulse width of 1 us
- Pulse period of 65.535 ms
The video covers:
- Fast capture

- The trace control menu
- Automatic measurements
- Single triggering example
- Zoomed view
802.11g WLAN

For this example, the signal was generated using Agilent’s Signal Studio for 802.11 WLAN software, enabling a calculated I/Q waveform file to be downloaded to the signal generator, in this case a ESG Vector Signal Generator (E4438C). The spectrum of the signal is shown in the graph below.
Signal Configuration:
- Frequency of 2.412 GHz
- Data rate of 54 Mbps
- OFDM signal
- PN9 data stream
- Total data length 290 bytes
- Amplitude 17dBm
- 5 us idle interval
The video covers:
- Gate control for variable burst lengths
- 30 MHz bandwidth capable for many WLAN formats
- Continuous trigger
