What accessories should I order with the 8162x optical heads?

The optical heads Agilent Technologies offers are used for optical power measurements. The heads will not be able to operate as standalone instruments. The following accessories are needed:

A mainframe
An interface module
An optical head adapter

The current optical heads are the 8162xB optical heads
The current mainframes are the 8163, 8164 and 8166 mainframes
The 8162xB optical heads work with both the 81618A single channel and 81619A dual channel interface modules.

All 81001xx series connector adpaters with integral D-shape are suitable for 5mm and 3mm heads.

Available connector adapters for the 8162x optical heads are:
(Can be used only with 5mm heads)
81003TD - MTP
81003PD - MPX
81003JD - MT-RJ

If the connector you use is not listed, you can either use a patchcord or use the 81000ZA blank adapter.
The 81000ZA is a cap which fits onto the optical heads. You will need to do the machining yourself to have your connector fit in there.
A third option is to design your own cap. The thread size of the optical heads is M32 by 1 mm (pitch) by 3 (rotations).

Agilent Technologies also offers a bare fiber adapter to use with either the 8152x or the 8162x optical heads. The model number is 81000BA. This bare fiber adapter is for fibers with a cladding of 125 micrometer.
