How do I get the N5182A/N5162A MXG default waveform files from Agilent and download them into the N5182A/N5162A MXG memory?

The arbitrary waveform files are stored in the non-volatile memory of the N5182A/N5162A MXG when they ship out of the factory. In case these waveform files are accidentally deleted, a user can retrieve them through either of the following methods.

I. FTP Transfer Method:

  1. Download MXG waveforms, save, and unzip the MXG waveform. The file is also available by navigating from the N5182A main product page > Clicking on the "Technical Support" Tab > Clicking on the "Drivers and Software" Tab > Clicking on the "Factory Default N5182A MXG Waveforms for Baseband Generator..." item > Clicking on the "Download MXG waveforms" link.
  2. In your Internet browser, initiate the FTP file transfer to the MXG by typing in ftp://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/user/nonvolatile, where “xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx” is the IP address of the MXG. To find the IP address on your MXG, press: [Utility]>>{IO Config}>>{LAN Setup}
    Note: If Windows Internet Explorer asks “To view this FTP site in Windows Explorer, click Page, and then click Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer”. Go to Internet Explorer “View” drop down menu and select “Open and FTP site in Windows Explorer”
  3. With both the waveform file folder and the FTP site open you can now drag and drop or copy and paste the waveform files that you want to store into the MXG’s nonvolatile memory.
    Note: If you want to play the waveforms, the files must be copied to the Baseband Generator memory. This can be accomplished on the MXG by pressing the following keys: [Mode] >>{Dual ARB}>>{Select Waveforms}>>{Waveform Segments}>>{Load All From Int Media}

II. USB Memory Stick Transfer Method:

  2. Copy the waveform file from your PC to the USB memory stick. For MXG compatible USB memory sticks, please refer to “What USB storage devices are compatible with the MXG?
  3. Insert the USB memory stick containing the MXG default waveform files into the MXG front panel USB connector. The MXG will automatically display the memory stick contents
  4. On the MXG, press: [More] >> {Copy All Files} >>{USB To Internal Storage}

Note:

  • The factor default arbitrary waveforms of the MXG do not apply to the Agilent E4438C ESG and E8267D PSG Vector Signal Generators.
  • Firmware revision ≥ A.01.20 is required on the N5182A/N5162A MXG vector signal generator
