What is difference between connector option 021, 022 and 023 in 8167 series and 8168 series tunable laser source (8167A/B, 8168A/B/C/D/E/F)?

Option 021: Flat Polish Physical Contact Optical Output

This is a standard flat polish physical contact output. The specific connector type is determined by the optical connector interface while option 021 determines the polish. For example, if the 81000KI SC/PC/APC interface is chosen then the optical output with option 021 is an SC/PC optical connector. An overview of the different connector interfaces is provided at the URL below. The optical return loss from the option 021 is about 30-35 dB.

Option 022: Angled Polish Physical Contact Optical Output

This is a standard angle polish physical contact output and the connector type is determined by the optical connector interface. For example, if the 81000KI SC/PC/APC interface is chosen the output is an SC/APC connector. An overview of the different connector interfaces is provided at the URL below. The optical return loss from option 022 is over 50 dB.

Option 023: Angled Non-Contact Optical Output

This option is an angled non-contact optical interface which can be used with the 81000AI connector, HMS-10/HRL. A special HMS-10/HRL patch cable is required to connect to the option 023 output. This patch cable is no longer offered by Agilent. However, you can purchase the patch cable with a Diamond HMS-10/HRL connector directly from Diamond Fiber Optics as detailed by the URL's below. The return loss for option 023 is over 60 dB, but there is an insertion loss of about 1.5 dB.
