Every time a program is written to control a VXI SCPI language instrument a debugging phase occurs. Although this seems inevitable, no instrument manual or programing manual ever has a section on how to do debugging.

The purpose of this article is to explain a generalized technique for debugging instruments that use the SCPI language.
