Why Will My Emulation Probe Work through the On-Target JTAG Port but not through the Analysis Probe?

The MPC860 has multiple possible pin configurations for the JTAG signals. The E2476A Analysis Probe is hardwired and supports only pins G17 (DSDO), H17 (DSDI), and H16 (DSCK).

The MPC860 utilizes a hard reset configuration word sampled from the data bus. These bits determine the default values of the corresponding bits in the SUIMCR, IMMR, and MSR. The SIUMCR register must be setup to utilize the pins described above when using the Emulation Probe, E3497A, in conjunction with the E2476A. The same applies if you are using an emulation module.
