3070 Software Licensing Support

Beginning with 3070 software revision 05.30p, Agilent has transitioned from a codeword to a license model for software activation. This applies to both Unix and MS Windows® based 3070 systems. Prior to revision 05.30p, software was activated by adding codeword(s) to a file called the .enable (dot-enable) file. There was a unique codeword for each software feature available on a 3070 system. These codeword(s) were provided by way of a Software License Certificate that would list the software purchased along with the codeword(s). This certificate also represented "proof of ownership" of the software features purchased.

Beginning with revision 05.30p, the software is activated by installing a license file on the 3070 system. This license file is tied to the MAC address of the 3070 system controller.
