N6700 Firmware Update

What is N6700 Firmware Revision D.01.08?

Firmware revision D.01.08 can be installed in the following products:
N6700B, N6701A, N6702A

Please note that the last version of firmware to support the N6700A, N6710A, and N6721A-N6729A models was version C.02.18. This revision is included for download at the bottom of this page.

Firmware revision D.01.08 supercedes all other earlier versions of firmware and is backward compatible with all other earlier versions of firmware.

What is N6700 Backup Firmware Revision B.00.10?

Backup firmware revision B.00.10 is the latest revision of the backup firmware of the N6700. The backup firmware is installed to ensure that the instrument will function in the event of a firmware update failure. It is always a good idea to have the latest backup firmware installed on the N6700 mainframe.

Procedure to install N6700 Firmware 

  1. Download and install the Agilent N6700 Firmware Update Utility, located in the "Documents & Downloads" links at the bottom of this page. If you already have the Firmware Update Utility installed on your computer, skip this step.
  2. Download both the Agilent N6700 Firmware Revision and Agilent N6700 Backup Firmware files located in the "Documents & Downloads" links at the bottom of this page.
  3. Unzip the files from Step 2, making note of where you store the unzipped files.
  4. Open the Firmware Update Utility (Start -> Programs -> Agilent -> Firmware Update Utility).
  5. Click Next.
  6. Click Browse and locate the backup firmware file (N6700-backup-X_##_##.xs) that you unzipped in Step 3. Highlight the file and select Open.
  7. Select the model number of the mainframe that is being updated (N6700B, N6701A, or N6702A).
  8. Click Next.
  9. Select the I/O interface (GPIB, LAN, or USB) that connects your N6700 mainframe to your PC.
  10. Choose the settings necessary for communication (GPIB address, IP address, USB ID).
  11. Click Update.
  12. After the Update is complete, Click "Yes" to reboot the N6700 mainframe.
  13. Once the reboot is complete, Click Back twice. Repeat steps 6-12 using the primary firmware file (N6700-X_##_##.xs), not the backup file.
  14. The primary and backup firmware are now up to date.

Note: There is no need to re-calibrate when this new firmware is installed.
