Back to Basics RF and Digital Measurements workshop

1   Day | Seminar | Where & When

Brief Overview / Why it’s Important:

Join Agilent Technologies at this complimentary full day seminar.
Engineers working today in education, communications, wireless, aerospace and defence industries are faced with increasingly complex measurement challenges and rapidly changing technology. A strong foundation in basic measurement techniques is essential for success.

This seminar will improve your understanding of basic RF and digital measurements, including real applications, thus improving your efficiency and effectiveness whether you are in R&D or design & test.
Agilent Technologies will provide a FREE full day forum where you can see our latest solutions, and expand on the practical knowledge you need to have to perform your day-to-day-measurements. The seminar will start at 9.00 with registration and finish just after 16.30. Application and product experts from Agilent will be on-hand to give demonstrations and technical presentations around the latest innovations, features and capabilities in basic fundamentals.

We look forward to welcoming you to this event.

Who Should Attend this workshop:

This event will be useful to engineering students in their penultimate year, recent engineering graduates and technicians, experienced R&D engineers moving towards RF or digital, and technicians and engineers involved in design & test.

Abstracts:

  • Understanding Oscilloscope Basics & Specifications:

Understand the fundamentals of oscilloscope measurements, what specifications are important, and how to measure different signals. Learn about the differential, active and passive probing. After this, the most recent trends of both analogue and digital design will be introduced. High frequency measurements will also be covered, with mask testing, jitter measurements, and eye diagrams discussed.

  • Spectrum Analysis Basics:

Discover why spectrum analysis is important in a variety of applications. Find out how to measure system and device performance using a spectrum analyser. The theory of operation will be discussed, along with the major components, why they are important, and how they affect measurements. This will lead to identifying important specifications for different applications.

  • Design and Analysis:

In electronic product design, simulation software (across multiple disciplines) is a critical component of a Design-Validation-Test process. The spectrum of software that is used in industry to address modern design challenges will be presented; providing advice for which technology is best to solve specific circuit design challenges, Baseband Modulation and RF System Architecture, Electromagnetic simulation, and High Speed Digital design challenges.

  • Network Analysis Basics:

Learn what kind of measurements can be made with a network analyser, why they are important, and where they are used. Starting with RF fundamentals such as transmission lines and the Smith Chart, the session will then lead onto S-parameters, transmission and reflection. The major components of a network analyser will be covered, and different hardware approaches discussed. Typical measurements, often performed on components such as filters and amplifiers, will also be covered.
