Why this Webcast is important:
Unlike conventional filter design based on the usual frequency and impedance scaling of existing filter prototypes, direct filter synthesis creates suitable filter topologies directly from the transfer functions derived from user-specified custom response shapes.
This is especially useful for synthesizing compact non-standard filters with notched or symmetrical responses. Without direct synthesis, designers often rely heavily on the simulation optimizer to produce the desired response and often have to settle for an unnecessarily complex filter topology with sub-optimal performance.
