Why this workshop is important
The success of a wireless technology especially the emerging wireless standards heavily depends on the efficiency of the final stage power amplifier. The efficiency is not only required to conserve the power but also required to meet the Spectral Emission Mask (SEM) while delivering the requires output power.

While there are many techniques to increase the efficiency linearization has been an attractive one above and beyond a good amplifier design. Digital Pre Distortion has emerged as the most popular technique to linearize the power amplifier.

DPD challenges considered in this workshop:
• Extraction of a good DPD model on power amplifiers with large memory effects.
• Extraction of DPD model for a signal with very high Peak To Average Power Ratio (PAPR)
• Extraction of DPD model for a very wide band signal (up to 250MHz)
• Extraction of DPD model in simulation with co-simulating with a circuit level amplifier.

What does this workshop cover
1. The extraction of DPD coefficients for a HW amplifier with instruments controlled by SystemVue.
2. The extraction of DPD coefficients by co-simulation with a circuit level design in Advanced Design System
3. The extraction of DPD coefficients on a FCE model. Where the FCE is model is extracted from Golden Gate simulator.

The attendees will understand the methodology to linearize the PA and a high-level understanding of the DPD algorithm. They will witness the step by step linearization of a HW amplifier using instruments.

The attendees will learn SystemVue ADS co-simulation and apply it to linearize an amplifier in ADS using the DPD builder in SystemVue. They will also learn the new FCE model extracted from Golden Gate simulator and apply the DPD builder to this model.

What to expect:
In this interactive workshop, students will use Agilent supplied PCs to do a series of instructor lead tasks using Agilent's SystemVue ESL Software and learn the basic process of power amplifier linearization both in measurement and simulation. By the end of the workshop, students will develop a working knowledge of the DPD builder and its capabilities. The course content is based on Agilent's application note.
