FAQ 2013-01-12

On my E8267D, I get an error that the signal requires more repeats than supported, can I increase this limit with the internal baseband option?
No. To increase the number of pulse capacity either upgrade to an External Baseband option with the N8241A AWG or ...

FAQ 2012-12-30

How do I enable the free 30-day trial license?
To obtain a trial license for Signal Studio B models (e.g. N7615B), download the Signal Studio software and visit the Agilent Software Licensing trial license request page for that model.

FAQ 2012-12-30

Is there a way to simulate jitter in my pulse pattern?
Yes, Signal Studio for pulse building allows you to add jitter on the pulse width and pulse repetition interval.

FAQ 2012-12-30

Are there any options to adjust the pulse definitions within Signal Studio for pulse building?
No, at the moment the rise and fall times are defined by their 0-100 percent points and the pulse width is defined to be the 100-100 percent point.

FAQ 2012-12-30

When would I use ALC Hold?
ALC Hold is used for pulses with rise and fall times greater than 100 ns. It is used with pulses that do not have constant envelope modulation (such as AM Step), and with multiple pulses where the pulses have different amplitudes.

FAQ 2012-12-30

Does the Signal Studio for Pulse Building software run on a National Instruments embedded PXI controller like the one that comes with the N6030A?
Yes, it does. However, the Agilent I/O Libraries may need to be installed as a secondary VISA and then the NI Tulip DLL may need to be enabled.

FAQ 2012-12-30

What is the E8267D Option 016?
E8267D Option 016 is a PSG with differential inputs designed specifically for the N6030A arbitrary waveform generator outputs.

FAQ 2012-12-30

Can I turn off the N6030A arbitrary waveform generator predistortion from the N7620B Signal Studio for Pulse Building to get more power?
No. The N7620B software does not allow the N6030A predistortion to be turned off.

FAQ 2012-12-30

How much jitter is there when using an external trigger?
Unless the trigger signal is synchronized to the Arb sample clock, you will see jitter equal to the sample period for the internal Arb and equal to 8 sample periods for the N6030A.

FAQ 2012-12-30

Is there an easy way to save a pulse pattern and send it to another person?
Yes, simply save the entire .pbp or you can export the pattern using the “export pattern” function.

FAQ 2012-12-30

How do I change the 10 MHz reference source if Signal Studio for pulse building doesn’t detect the reference?
Most of the time, Signal Studio will recognize the reference; however, it can be changed in the download -> customize menu.

FAQ 2012-12-30

Why does my ESG report errors when I try to download waveforms using a National Instruments GPIB card with certain Signal Studio applications?
If errors reported by the ESG include “ -113 undefined header” and “-101 invalid character”, you need to download and install a patch for the Agilent IO Libraries.

FAQ 2012-12-30

What is a 30-day free trial license and how does it work?
The 30-day free trial period allows the user to try out our latest Signal Studio software products prior to purchase.

FAQ 2012-12-30

Is it possible to adjust the phase offset using degrees instead of radians?
Yes. Select View -> Customize Pattern Item Table and toggle the ‘phase offset in degrees’ button

FAQ 2012-12-30

How do I obtain the software?
A CD-ROM containing the latest software version available is shipped with your order.

FAQ 2012-12-30

Is there a way to put insert a missing pulse into the signal?
Yes, you can add a “Off time” object to the pulse pattern and change the duration to meet your pulse requirements.

FAQ 2012-12-30

Where can I find information or example programs using the API for Signal Studio?
