How can I generate TETRA and DECT signal for basic interference testing in many compliance test houses, which are bursted, just like the real standard
You can use PRAM to simulate spectrally correct signals for TETRA and DECT for bursted signals. See the X-Series User’s Guide for further information.

Will there be drivers available for the N5181B or N5182B X-Series signal generators?
Yes, 32 and 64 Bit IVI com, IVI C and MATLAB drivers are available. LabView driver is planned for late 2012.
FAQ 2012-04-30 |
Does Option UNU, pulse modulation, exist on the X-Series signal generators?
No, Option UNW, narrow pulse, is the only pulse option.
FAQ 2012-04-30 |
Is the output power improved on the X-Series signal generators?
Yes, specified output power changed from +23 dBm to +24 dBm for MXG. For both MXG and EXG X-Series signal generators, standard output power has improved significantly. See the data sheet for more details.
FAQ 2012-04-30 |
Is BER available on the N5182B MXG or N5172B EXG X-Series signal generators?
No, Option UN7, Internal Bit Error Rate Analyzer, is not available at introduction.
FAQ 2012-04-30 |
Is the tuning speed the same as switching speed on the X-Series signal generators?
Yes, switching speed is the same as tuning speed.
FAQ 2012-04-30 |
Is Option 300, GSM/EDGE Base-station loop-back test capability, going to be available on the N5182B MXG or N5172B EXG X-Series signal generators?
No, Option 300 will not be added to the X-Series signal generator instruments.
FAQ 2012-04-30 |
Are the X-Series signal generators ROHS compliant?
Yes, they are ROHS compliant.
FAQ 2012-04-30 |
What is the OS (operating system) of the X-Series signal generators?
Windows® CE
FAQ 2012-04-30 |
Can customers use custom digital modulation in ARB mode?
Yes, but the data will be a fixed, random pattern.
FAQ 2012-04-30 |
Do the new sources de-crypt waveforms in the same way as the legacy sources? Can we just use pre-existing waveforms?
Yes. First-generation MXG N5182A Signal Studio N76xxB waveforms will play in new sources. Exception will be N7613A Signal Studio for Fixed WiMAX which has the legacy N76xxA structure.
FAQ 2012-04-30 |
Does Option 320 require that I have Option UNU or UNW on the X-Series signal generators?
Yes, Option 320, pulse train generator, requires Option UNW, narrow pulse modulation. Option UNU, pulse modulation, is not an option on the X-Series signal generators.
FAQ 2012-04-30 |
Does N5181B or N5182B MXG Option UNY/UNX have backward code compatibility with E8663D or 8663D signal generators?
Yes, the N5181B and N5182B MXG Option UNY/UNX has the same SCPI as PSG E8663D. E8663D is the replacement of 8663D with BWCC (backward code compatibility).
FAQ 2012-04-30 |
Can waveforms be writable to removable SD card so customers do not have to take apart instrument to remove internal hard drive?
Yes, this capability is available through security Option 006.
FAQ 2012-04-30 |
Is the pulse generator specification still the same with ALC On/Off on the X-Series signal generators?
Yes, it still cuts off at <2µs, however, open loop power accuracy has improved with or without power search being run. In most cases, you will see tenths of dB accuracy without running power search. This is a significant improvement over first-generation MXG.
FAQ 2012-04-30 |
Can you change the attenuation on external I and Q individually on the N5182B MXG or N5172B EXG X-Series signal generators?
Yes, improved over the first-generation MXG.
FAQ 2012-04-30 |
Can we support atmospheric conditions with N7609B GPS on the N5182B MXG or N5172B EXG X-Series signal generators?
Yes.
FAQ 2012-04-30 |
What is the size and format of the removable memory (SD card) on the X-Series signal generators?
