Is it possible to adjust the phase offset using degrees instead of radians?
Yes. Select View -> Customize Pattern Item Table and toggle the ‘phase offset in degrees’ button

How much jitter is there when using an external trigger?
Unless the trigger signal is synchronized to the Arb sample clock, you will see jitter equal to the sample period for the internal Arb and equal to 8 sample periods for the N6030A.

Is it possible to append the data to the previous one in Graph View?
No.

Is there an easy way to save a pulse pattern and send it to another person?
Yes, simply save the entire .pbp or you can export the pattern using the “export pattern” function.

Does the Signal Studio for Pulse Building software run on a National Instruments embedded PXI controller like the one that comes with the N6030A?
Yes, it does. However, the Agilent I/O Libraries may need to be installed as a secondary VISA and then the NI Tulip DLL may need to be enabled.

What is a 30-day free trial license and how does it work?
The 30-day free trial period allows the user to try out our latest Signal Studio software products prior to purchase.

How do I change the 10 MHz reference source if Signal Studio for pulse building doesn’t detect the reference?
Most of the time, Signal Studio will recognize the reference; however, it can be changed in the download -> customize menu.

How do I obtain the software?
A CD-ROM containing the latest software version available is shipped with your order.

|
|
When would I use ALC Hold?
ALC Hold is used for pulses with rise and fall times greater than 100 ns. It is used with pulses that do not have constant envelope modulation (such as AM Step), and with multiple pulses where the pulses have different amplitudes.

Why does my ESG report errors when I try to download waveforms using a National Instruments GPIB card with certain Signal Studio applications?
If errors reported by the ESG include “ -113 undefined header” and “-101 invalid character”, you need to download and install a patch for the Agilent IO Libraries.

|
Is there a way to simulate jitter in my pulse pattern?
Yes, Signal Studio for pulse building allows you to add jitter on the pulse width and pulse repetition interval.

Can I turn off the N6030A arbitrary waveform generator predistortion from the N7620B Signal Studio for Pulse Building to get more power?
No. The N7620B software does not allow the N6030A predistortion to be turned off.

Where can I find information or example programs using the API for Signal Studio?
The Signal Studio for pulse building help file has information and example programs under the API control chapter.

What happens to nested patterns and off-time packets in pulse mode?
Nested patterns are flattened. This means that a single trigger will not play the entire pattern. It merely steps into the pattern and plays the first pulse. The next trigger plays the next pulse, etc. Off-time packets are ignored in pulse mode.

Why can’t I view a help file downloaded from the Agilent website?
After downloading the file to your PC, open it from the location it was saved and a security warning appears. To view the help system, clear the checkmark from the "Always ask before opening this file" check box.

What happens when I turn the N6030A arbitrary waveform generator off?
You will probably need to reboot PC if you are using an MXI to PXI interface. All signal data is lost.

What are the details related to using the N6030xA/M933xA and N824xA arbitrary waveform generator predistortion?
The built-in predistortion scales the data to guarantee that you never get a DAC over-range condition. Typically, it gives up 2-3 dB of range. This is important because less power out of the N6030A means less leveled output power from the PSG with...
