Description
The Agilent U1084A Acqiris high-speed digitizer leverages the performance of our leading edge technology and know-how to meet the most demanding requirements.
The U1084A is a dual-channel, 8-bit PCIe® digitizer card with an on-board, high-speed, field programmable gate array (FPGA) component that is used for real-time data processing tasks. Featuring 4 GS/s sampling rates, the digitizer provides on-board real-time signal processing firmware.
The card is available in three versions. The U1084A-001 features sampling rates up to 4 GS/s and a fully featured front-end with 1.5 GHz bandwidth. It’s complemented by two versions that offer up to 2 GS/s (-002) and 1 GS/s (-003) sampling rates, respectively. All versions are dual-channel and have an interleaved single-channel mode for maximum sampling-rate performance. In addition, the units incorporate advanced triggering capabilities, including a 15 ps trigger time interpolator (TTI) for accurate timing measurements.
The firmware options allow the data acquisition card to perform specific post-processing tasks, and are easily uploaded into the FPGA under program control. The firmware options redefine the way in which data acquisition can be performed. They make the data converter platforms extremely flexible and easy to reconfigure. Four firmware options are available and the card has the capability to dynamically switch between any two of these options.
The standard digitizer firmware (-DGT) enables the digitized data to be stored in large (up to 512 MB) on-board memory. The option also provides smart memory management with segmentation mode and trigger time-stamp functionality.
In addition to the standard digitizer functionality, the optional ping-pong memory buffer architecture (-DGS) allows hundreds of thousands of analog signals per second to be simultaneously acquired and transferred over the lightening fast PCIe® bus.
Using the PCI-EXPRESS® (PCIe®) bus maximizes the data throughput. Implemented in the base product as a 4-lane PCIe card, the U1084A product provides data throughput at up to 520 MB/s.
The real-time sampling and averaging firmware (-AVG) reduces the effect of random noise, increases the visibility of repetitive small signals, and improves the signal-to-noise ratio as well as increases resolution and dynamic range. The fast sampling rate is achieved with a single trigger and acquisition does not require the use of equivalent time sampling techniques. The U1084A can create these averages at full speed, up to 4 GS/s.
The peak detection and analysis firmware (-TDC) allows real-time acquisition and peak detection up to 4GS/s. The firmware enables the creation of a peak histogram of successive acquisitions, and each histogram bin containing peak counts or summed peak amplitudes. Up to 60 Mpeaks/s can be achieved, while having a trigger jitter of just 250ps.
As it is designed for OEM use, embedded in equipment that may well fall under RoHS compliance, the U1084A product uses only lead free components and non-toxic methods, to be fully RoHS compliant.
Using Agilent Acqiris’ technology and know-how, the component count on U1084A is kept to a minimum, increasing the operational reliability of the card and maximizing analog and digital performance.
