The frequency converter measurement application, Option 083, adds user-friendly tools for accurate mixer and converter measurements. When used with PNA Series frequency-offset-mode (Option 080), the application option implements two unique calibration techniques: scalar and vector mixer calibration.

The scalar mixer calibration is used for high-accuracy, magnitude-only conversion loss measurements and requires a compatible power meter and power sensor.

The vector mixer calibration is used for both magnitude and phase conversion loss measurements. This technique is optimized for system calibration when phase and absolute group delay measurements are desired, and requires a reference mixer and a reciprocal calibration mixer. These mixers are specific to each test configuration and must be acquired separately.

The application also supports many of Agilent's signal sources, including the MXG, ESG and PSG series signal generators, as well as the optional second internal source. An optional GPIB-to-USB interface module is also available to control external sources and power meters.
