N5700/N8700 Series Firmware Update – Version A.04.04 & A.01.08

The N5700/N8700 Series firmware download is provided as a self-extracting executable file. The file contains two versions of firmware.

Which version of the firmware is right for my product?

• All N8700 models – use revision A.04.04
• N5700 models with the LXI logo – use revision A.04.04
• N5700 models without the LXI logo – use revision A.01.08

What is Backup Firmware Revision A.04.00?
Backup firmware revision A.04.00 is the latest revision of the backup firmware for the N5700 and N8700 Series. The backup firmware is installed to ensure that the instrument will function in the event of a firmware update failure. It is always a good idea to have the latest backup firmware installed.

Procedure to install firmware on an N5700/N8700:

1. Download and install the firmware update utility, located in the "Documents & Downloads" section at the bottom of this page. If you already have the firmware update utility installed on your computer, skip this step.
2. Download the Agilent N5700/N8700 firmware update file located in the "Documents & Downloads" section at the bottom of this page.
3. Unzip the firmware update file, making note of where you store the unzipped file.
4. Open the firmware update utility (Start -> Programs -> Agilent -> Firmware Update Utility).
5. Click “Next”.
6. Click “Browse” and locate the firmware file that you unzipped in step 3. Highlight the file and select Open.
7. Click “Next”.
8. Select the I/O interface (GPIB, LAN, or USB) that connects your N5700/N8700 to your PC.
9. Choose the settings necessary for communication (GPIB address, IP address, USB ID).
10. Click Update.
11. After the Update is complete, click "Yes" to reboot the N5700/N8700
12. Once the reboot is complete, you are done, unless you’d like to update the backup firmware. To update the backup firmware, click “Back” twice, and then repeat steps 6-12 using the backup firmware file.
