E5100A/B Network Analyzer Firmware Upgrade

Firmware revision 3.xx should be installed into the Agilent E5100A/B with serial number prefix "JP5KC" and the later version.

To install revision 3.xx into the Agilent E5100A/B with serial number prefix "JP4KC and the earlier version, you need hardware modification using one of upgrade kit Agilent E5100U Option 091 - 096.

How to install the firmware into the Agilent E5100A/B:

1. Download firmware, and extract it on your PC. Once finishing the extract, following files are created.
   UPDATE.SRC
   UPDATE
2. Make a copy of the following two files on a 3.5 inch DOS formatted floppy disk.
   UPDATE.SRC ....... Firmware source file.
   UPDATE ........... Firmware installation program file.
3. While pressing [Preset] and [0] keys at the same time, turn ON the Agilent E5100A/B, and wait for a while until {Firmware update} and other softkeys are appeared on the display.
4. Press {Firmware update}.
5. Insert the correct firmware disk into the floppy disk drive of the Agilent E5100A/B.
6. Press {OK}.
7. Press {EXECUTE UPDATE}.
8. Press {OK} to start firmware update.

NOTE: It will take a couple of minutes to complete the firmware update. When it is completed, the unit automatically execute PRESET operation.
