Can I use phase and frequency compensation setup for 1xEV-DO signal analysis in Code Domain Power for the PSA and E4406A 1xEV-DO personality?
We have changed the measurement setting in Code Domain with the latest firmware of PSA and E4406A VSA. Previously, there were phase and frequency compensation menus under [Mease Setup] > {Advanced} in PSA and E4406A VSA firmware, and they worked to compensate the phase and/or frequency drifts within 1xEV-DO half-slot length. The latest firmware, however, always gives the measured results compensated in phase and frequency by Pilot channel reference with 1 slot length.
2006-12-26 FAQ
Can I write my own measurement personalities or downloadable programs (DLPs) for the E4406A, PSA Series, or ESA Series Analyzers?
No. We do, however, offer many tools to facilitate remotely interfacing of our instruments to a PC to write custom applications. We do also offer flexible digital demod through the 89601A software, and this software does have custom macro capabilities.
2008-11-21 FAQ
Can we get the measured results of 1xEV-DO Modulation Accuracy in relative linear (no unit), not in relative power (dB) for the PSA and E4406A 1xEV-DO personality?
3GPP2 C.S0032-A and C.S0033-A Minimum Performance Specifications describes required value as 0.0021 in Forward Link Max MAC inactive channel power fail limit for subtype0/1. It’s useful to get the results without converting from dB to linear value. In Modulation Accuracy measurement, we can switch the measured value between relative power (dB) and linear (no unit) with following setup menu; [Meas Setup] > {Meas Type Rel Log | Rel Linear} It is not necessary to convert the measured results in dB manually.

For the E4406A VSA, PSA Series Spectrum Analyzers with the latest firmware, and the X-series Signal Analyzers, why are the displayed results for W-CDMA Modulation Accuracy (Rho) different than those queried using the "READ:RHO[1]?" command?
Previously with PSA A.06 firmware (E4406A A.07 firmware), mod accuracy only supported 1 slot capture. The current firmware now supports capturing a full frame, and this is the new default setting.
2009-03-09 FAQ
For the PSA Series Spectrum Analyzer are there any limitations in configuring network subnet masks?
IPv4 addresses are broken down into three parts: the network park, the subnet part, and the host part. The subnet part is now considered part of the network park, however, the HP-RT operating system used by PSA still considers it a separate part. Therefore, unlike PCs, the PSA will not let you choose a subnet mask wider than the default subnet mask according to the class ranges. This especially affects the use of networks in the 192.0.0.0 to 223.255.255.255 range where the user wants to use a subnet mask wider than 256 addresses (255.255.255.0). If a subnet mask is entered that is wider than 255.255.255.0, then the PSA’s operating system will ignore the subnet and simply use a subnet of 255.255.255.0.
