Agilent GUI Data Logger Software for U1253A

Hello,
The last version 1.5.1.0 of Agilent GUI Data logger does not works fine on U1253A. After connecting with the DMM, If you start logging with the knob located at ACV or DCV, the graph is updated BUT NOT the Data Table. If while logging you switch the knob to Resistance, the table starts to update, if you go back to DCV, the data table stops updating. Also, if you press shift button and press it again and switch the knob to different possitions, the functions and units are not updated, although values measured are ok. I hope you can fix these issues soon. Thanks

Thanks for enquiring.
During Data logging via GUI DATA LOGGER, there should be no issue logging data points if a single function chosen is identified, but when changes happen, for instance, change of function from Resistance and back and forth to DCV, it will need some reaction time to trigger the capture. However, I am not saying that the logging will not stop when constant changing of functions during data logging, it will be but it is also a matter of response time. Can you point out whether does it stop logging completely when a single change of function happen?
It will be best practise to wait for a few seconds for the application to react during data logging.
If the issues you mention, continue to surface, please contact your region support group or visit Agilent.com.
I hope to hear from you.

Hi, thanks four your reply.
What I do is the following:
a) Turn on the DMM and leave it in DCV function
b) Run Agilent GUI data logger
c) Connect with the DMM
d) Start data logging
e) Nothing appears into data table, but in graphs and Virtual meter the measurements are recorded. This situation continues indefinitely
f) IF I MOVE THE KNOB to Resistance, ONLY IN THAT CASE the table start registering values (of resistance). Going back to DCV, table stop registering.
g) If you do the same steps except from starting with the DMM in Resistance function, the datalogging in the table starts ok, but not respecting the interval time set in Options (captures data as fast as possible). If you make a change into time interval, it re adjust the effective capture time and continues capturing at the correct interval of time.
So obviously the problem is not in the knob movement. In previous software versions this odd behaviour didn't happen.
Hope you can fix these issues
Regards,
Andrés

Thank you for quering.
As much as the GUI DATA LOGGER is concerned, changing of functions during datalogging will continue to have an incorrect time interval, for instance, having more than one reading per second logged. I think I have found a workaround for this issue.
Before users start data logging, please follow these steps:
1. Please ensure the instrument is connected to the GUI DATA LOGGER.
2. Once HHDMM is connected, on the GUI DATA LOGGER, please select the Data Logging tab (second from top LEFT)
3. Go to OPTION, (workaround highlight), change the time interval to any number, once that you have changed from the default.
4. Revert the time interval to your planned time interval.
5. Start Data Logging
6. You will see the reading logged is in accordance to the time interval set.
Moving forward, I will escalate the issue to the team. In the meantime, enjoy using the GUI DATA LOGGER with the workaround. I am sure the following version release will address the issue.

Thanks for your reply.
Yes, that solves the problem of the timing, but not the issue of not logging any data at all in DCV or ACV functions. Please try yourself to do that.
Another issue is the graph time scale, it is not adjusted correctly if you change to time intervals different from 1 measure per second.
Thank you.

Hello I will also confirm the bug about the time interval preset of the version 1.5.1.0 .
My meter are one U1272A, the time interval software preset, was forcing the meter sampling to be less than a second per sample.
The view of this meter to take about seven samples per second is spectacular, but even so I did revert back to the software version 1.5.0.0 .
Mostly because it is very stable up to date.
I am logging mostly AC voltage, both software versions was working well at the specific range.
My own suggestion would be, the software version 1.5.0.0 . to be available for download too.
So to be an alternative path, until the release of next stable version at about August ? as far I know.

Hi, thanks for your suggestions. I think V1.5.0.0 is not more available to download through Agilent webpage. Luckly, I have the version that originaly came with my DMMM that works ok.
In the meantime, I'll wait for a new "stable" software version

Andrés
