This is regarding multi-carrier GSM measurement using PXA. In the SWT/EVM menu, have noticed an option “Carrier BPF  Auto, Single and Multi”. Could you please explain this?. Noticed big improvement in muti-carrier SWT measurement with this carrier BPF enabled. For example 6C configuration with 7 MHz carrier spacing, GSMK SWT @1200 KJz showed an improvement of around 6 dB!! Wnat to know what is really happeneing with this option ?

Hi -

You can learn about the Carrier BPF, Multi and Single by looking at page 1175 of the N9071A User’s and Programmer’s Guide:

http://cp.literature.agilent.com/litweb/pdf/N9071-90015.pdf

Or, on the instrument, under the Multi Carrier menu, where the “ Carrier BPF” softkey is displayed. Press Help, then the “ Carrier BPF” softkey. This will pull up the information from the user’s guide.

This explains why you might want to use the multi carrier filter when there are carriers other than the signal of interest present. Turning on this filter allows partial or full rejection of the unwanted carriers. I do not have the particulars on the actual filter BW of “Multiple” filter.
