Where can I find the specs for 54831M scope?

It appears to be exactly like a 54831B as far as I can tell, so why the different model number? What am I missing?

Hello Mciholas,

You are correct, the specs for the 54831M are identical to the 54831B. The 54831M was a special we did for the US military. The 54831B includes the 54831B, extra manuals in a military format (done by an outside vendor), and extra probes, and a military training CD. All 54831M scopes shipped with Windows98. They could be upgraded to WindowsXP, but the military did not take that step. So I expect yours is still Windows 98. The upgrade requires extra RAM on the otherboard and a different HD with Windows XP installed. I hope that answers your questions.

Mine is the same way too: Win98
Why don't you release an ISO file like you did for the 1680A (XP in installed on it)

Hi Tony, you can convert a 54831M or any 5483XX scope from Windows 98 to Windows XP. You have to order the 54855-68704 HD recovery kit. It comes with a new and bigger HD, 40GB at least, with Windows XP installed, Windows XP sticker, and instructions to reset the BIOS. You still need 512MB RAM on the motherboard. Plus, you need to download the latest scope app, currently rev 5.71, from the Agilent web site. We did not inlcude the scope app because the app rolls often enough we did not want to include a scope app that might be out of date. We have to charge for the upgrade to keep our licensing active and current with Microsoft.

If you purchase a copy of Windows XP or use your company version, you will just have a computer. The scope application will not run. We had to modify Windows XP for our scope application to run.

If the logic analzyer folks gave you a free upgrade to XP, then they paid Microsoft for the XP license. Well, at least they should have.

Funny, I just found my old post related to this scope.

Is it still supported by Agilent?
I was hoping enough time has passed that you stopped selling the memory option and would just give it away. I don't have several thousand dollars to 'upgrade' to using the memory that's already in there.

The memory is not "already in there". You have to add memory (or replace the memory that's there, I've forgotten which) to get to 512MB.
