hi guys,

i need to test a PWM fan control, and i need the characteristics of the fan for each duty. what did is use an FM modulation in the pulse con fig to sweep the duty. its working fine.
what i need to do is to increment the duty cycle of the pulse by 1 second for each duty. i need help.

thanks.

Not sure if you can sweep duty cycle from the front panel, but using remote commands, you can write a program to sweep duty cycle in discrete steps.

thanks for the reply. one more thing i have a VEEpro and it keeps saying SICl32.DLL AND vISA32.DLL is a wrong version when I'm trying to add an instrument. this just happened when I'd install the visa manager of Tektronix's.

Hi,

Using 33220A, Is it possible to manage the duty cycle externally?

If not, does it exist an agilent facility able to do that?

Yes, read the user manual starting on page 153 (especially page 157) for the remote commands.

Ok thank you, I found the information.
I need a PWM signal.
The datasheet of the 33220A shows a 20kHz limitation of the PWM signal and at the same time, the user manual says that we can manage the duty cycle until 10MHz.
I don't understand , could you explain me?

---------------------in the datasheet of 33220A-------------------------
PWM
Carrier waveform Pulse
Source Internal/External
Internal modulation Sine, Square, Ramp,
Triangle, Noise, Arb
(2 mHz to 20 kHz)
Deviation 0% to 100%
of pulse width

That would be page 210. You can use internal or external modulation for the PWM signal.

Ok dgun thanks.

20 kHz of signal modulation capability is quite slow for my need.

Do you have other facilities able to go upper?

The 81150A can do 10 MHz PWM. There are probably others, but I'm not the one to ask.
