Hello Everyone,

I read that the V3500A can be used as an RF power data logger by transferring data through its built-in USB interface to a computer. I´ve got a Power Meter V3500A but I do not see any option on the equipment that let me do this tranfer.

What do I need to do ?

Best regards,
Oscar

Hi Oscar,

Beginning on page 40 of the user's guide you will see some example programs that use the USB interface to pull data from the power sensor.
http://cp.literature.agilent.com/litweb ... -90001.pdf

Page 55 shows a complete C# program. It shows how to establish communication with and then control and read from the sensor. Programs in other languages follow in the subsequent pages.

Note that you must install the driver first which you can find here. Please download the correct driver for your vintage of power sensor.

Thanks you Andy,

I used the Example code using Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 but I get this message:

"Successfully created V3500A object. Failed to Register V3500A DLL"

By the way, i´m using Windows 7 x64.

Best Regards,
Oscar

Did you add a reference to the DLL in your project per the instructions on pages 35 and 37 of the user manual? Note that there are two different sets of steps depending on if you're using VS 6.0 or VS.NET. Start on page 35 and click the appropriate link (which takes you to page 37). Please let us know if you have done this already and still get the error.

We think the AgilentV3500A.dll is damaged, because we can not register the library.
We also tried on Win XP.

Any Ideas?

Hi Oscar, you mentioned that you think the "AgilentV3500A.dll" may be damaged. Did you mean the "AgilentV3500.tlb" type library? You must select this one instead of the DLL for VB6.

Adding a reference (Visual Basic 6.0)

NOTE The default setup places the AgilentV3500A.tlb file in the following folder:
C:\Program Files\Agilent\Agilent V3500A Driver.

1 Select Reference menu in your Visual Basic 6.0 project
under Project menu. The References dialog box will
open.
2 Use Browse to locate the installation directory.
3 Select “AgilentV3500A.tlb”.
4 Click Open.
5 Verify that the V3500A driver has been added (is
checked).
6 Click OK.

Andy, I already installed the "AgilentV3500.tlb with no problem" :

But when I tried to run the program I get this message:

So I do not know what´s the problem.

Thanks you,
Oscar

64-bit may not be supported right now but there could be some other underlying issue. We are doing some checking and will reply. We appreciate your patience.

We are also tried on Win XP 32bit, and we get the same error.
