How to stop Genesys during MFILTER operation

Hi
I'm running 2009.04 SP1 and I'm having a few issues with the filter synthesis modules.

I've been using 2004.07 up until recently as I preferred it to the new version and this is my first go at designing a filter under 2009.

I'm finding that the synthesis tool seems to work for a few parameter changes then it starts to get slow and unresponsive. When this happens it shows up problems.
eg it reports that all synthesis is up to date despite me making changes to the filter design. The S21 and S11 plots don't change and they don't report 'Old Data' This is obviously not right.

Eventually it appears to ignore any user edits, eg I can't update the filter order or cutoff. If I try and quit it gives a messagebox

"An analysis or Evaluation is running. You must wait for them to complete or stop them before closing the workspace"

I've tried waiting.... and waiting... and I've also tried to find a way of 'stopping' but can find nothing in the menus. I've tried pressing escape. The word 'stop' isn't in the help index.

It's done this in the passive filter synthesis and also MFILTER. I don't think I'm entering any illegal or impossible values into the filter design tool text boxes. I'm not using the optimiser.

I can only exit Genesys using CTRL ALT DEL and the task manager.

Genesys is installed on my C drive but the 'my documents' folderis on a remote drive via a network. Could genesys be trying (and failing?) to find the mydocs folder during MFILTER operation and slowly digging itself into a hole?

Thanks for the info!

I'll ask our IT dept to download the 2010 version and install it for me.

Thanks again!

Just a quick update. I now have 2010.05 and this version of Genesys is much better.

The only odd thing I've seen so far is that is carries over error history from a previous workspace.
eg if I start a new wsx (eg start a MFILTER synthesis) but there was an existing error on the previous workspace then the error 'sticks' and it pops up every time I make a change in MFILTER.

I have to press 'clear all errors' to get rid of it but I would prefer it if workspace specific errors got cleared automatically with the launch of a new workspace. This is because my first reaction to seeing the error on a new workspace was that I'd done something wrong.

I'm currently using it with the Sonnet interface and it works very well although it does sometimes take a long time to swap across to Sonnet.
However, this version is way better than 2009.04 SP1. There's some nice new touches with the schematic drawing tool and the graph scaling as well. eg it can rescale my graphs when it detects a big change in S21 etc. As I'm designing a switch then this is really useful.

Note: the other slight niggle with Sonnet is that when I reload a saved Sonnet workspace genesys insists on a full synthesis even if I just want to edit a lumped component (eg a PIN diode equiv model)in the tune window.
Is there a way to prevent it launching Sonnet? This relaunch of Sonnet should be unnecessary as nothing changed in the PCB layout. It costs me 10 minutes every time I swap between wsx when I want to do comparisons of different switch designs.

Also, I've noted that genesys 2010.05 struggles to save the default.??? files to the my workspace folder. Because my company has this folder mapped to a network drive genesys appears to fail to access this correctly sometimes.

So every so often genesys flashes up a message box saying it had an error saving to the workspace folder. If I ignore the error and carry on it must save it OK on future attempts. I also have had 3 genesys 2010.05 crashes or hangups so far today but this is way ahead of 2009.04 as this was unusable on MFILTER and also crashed very regularly with Sonnet.
I guess I'm not a 'normal' user due to the mapped network drive and the fact that I nearly always design using the Sonnet interface. But Genesys plus Sonnet is a great combination :)
