For an application I have a generator (E8257) on a remote location. This generator must generate a couple of discrete frequencies when triggered.

To trigger the generator I use a E5818A Trigger Box. With the use of the "Interactive LXI" program I can generate a manual trigger on TTL1 of the E5818A Trigger Box. Command to the E5818A are send via LAN.

What VISA commands I have to send to the E5818A trigger Box to configure it for generating a trigger via LAN on TTL1? And what VISA command does generate the trigger on TTL1? The E5818A manual does not provide me with enough information.

Why is the post moved from generators to Power Meters?

An E8257 is a generator and an E5818A is a trigger box both have nothing to do with power meters and sensors.

Not sure why this was moved - but I put it back in it's rightful place.

Hi -

Creating delay using E5818A, periodic, or N-cycle trigger pulses from a single trigger often requires custom circuitry or pulse generator.

Refer to the programming example page 121/135 from the link http://www.home.agilent.com/agilent/redirector.jspx?action=ref&cname=AGILENT_EDITORIAL&ckey=1400328&lc=eng&cc=MY&nfr=-11143.0.00&pselect=SR.GENERAL

The Syntax used as below:
TRIGger:TTL1|2:SOURce <source_value>
TRIGger:TTL1|2:SOURce?

And the examples as below
TRIG:TTL1:SOUR ”EXT1”

This command sets the trigger event TTL1 source to “EXT1”
TRIG:TTL1:SOUR?

This query will request for the source of trigger event TTL1

I hope this helped -

Hi, I have same problem, I'm trying to generate a pulse on TTL1 port based on LAN without success.

If I use commands TRIG:TTL1:SOUR 'EXT1' and send a pulse on EXT1 input, I have a pulse at TTL1 output. At this point everything is ok.

Now if I sent command TRIG:TTL1:SOUR 'LAN0' and send command TRIG:TTL1:STAT 1, I have no pulse at TTL1 output port.
(this an example from programming manual p8 ou(pdf p20) http://cp.literature.agilent.com/litweb/pdf/E5818-90005.pdf )
Which command I need to generate a pulse on TTL1 based on LAN?

Thanks.
