I'm new for this.
I want to test insertion loss of a relay in close state.Do I need to make a special wire for test?
Can nerwork analyzer test crosstalk and isolation for relay? How to test

Hello,

You certainly can use a network analyzer for testing either insertion loss or isolation/crosstalk (closed or open states) of a relay or switch.

Which piece of Agilent test equipment are you using? If you give us the specific model, perhaps we can point out sections of the manuals that would be helpful.

Also, is your device connectorized? You'll need to calibrate out the other wires or test fixtures, so you can just see the performance of your relay.

If N9912A or N9923A's CAT mode, you measure insertion loss, and perform a normalization calibration.

If N9923A or other VNA's with S-parameters, you measure S21 or S12, and can perform a normalization or full 2-port calibration.

Depending on the loss or isolation you are measuring, you may need to lower the IFBW to reduce the noise level and improve the dynamic range.
