Dear Colleagues,
Hello,

What are the necessary equipments / tools / instruments required to build a silicon photonics lab for research purposes. We need to characterize both active and passive photonic components. How Agilent can help? Are there any simulation tools provided by Agilent Tech?

Thanks in advance.
Abdurrahman.

Dear Abdurrahman,

thanks for posting this interesting question.
Agilent has a broad offering of T&M instruments that are used in many Si-Photonics labs worldwide.
(However, no Simulation SW yet).
As there are many different research topics in the Area of Si-Photonics (like coupling & interfaces, waveguides, Si based optoelectric
components Tx, Rx, modulators, optical routing etc.) it is difficult to give a general advice here.

Products that are often used in this context are: Lightwave Component Analyzers, Tunable Laser sources, Poarization control equipment
and our Multiport Powermeters.
If you want to enter in a more specific discussion, my colleagues and myself would be glad to answer any question that you might have.
For a general overview, you might want to check out our Lightwave Catalog (http://www.home.agilent.com/agilent/product.jspx?nid=-536900132.0.00&pageMode=LB&t=79832.g.1&co=152778.i.2&cc=US&lc=eng&sm=g).

Best regards

Andreas
