As far as operators logging in to some remote location, why? Wouldn't you just allow certain permissions available to the operators in a network folder (or another 3070 over the network) and then have the autofile point to the board files over the network?

In a domain we use domain users. You cant give "certain permissions" without a account or group to give the permissions to. How would you give the operator permissions on a dir or DFS on the server ??, you'd have to create a
local "operator" user on the server!. I dont think any ICT department is going to do that. They work with domain accounts. So you log onto the 3070 with for example:
operator@youdomain.local, then
operator@yourdomain.local can get permissions on the server (because now its know in the domain).
The only issue is that the restricted permissions for the "operator@yourdomain.local" account have to be created (gpo). We are going to implement this here sometime this year.
In the documentation they are talking about copying ".pol" files onto the domain controller, when i showed the ICT department they looked at me as if they saw a alien

. They said: "that was 9 years ago, now we use gpo ..(group policy). But in Agilent documentation there nothing about gpo .....
