special characters do not show up in text fields for ver 7.1

When you add special characters ( new line or carriage return ) in string text fields in version 7.1, they do not show up

Could you elaborate more on where do you put this special characters? If possible, describe it step by step.
Do you see that the previous versions, this works well?
